tips for planning a funeral for yourself

Two Reasons Why Cremation Is The New Burial

Do you and your family members have plans for when you pass away? A lot of people assume that they will be buried at a cemetery, without thinking of the expenses and other difficulties that are involved in the process. Will there be a funeral or another similar type of service? It is important to make a decision on what will happen with your body after you pass away while you are still here. You don't want to leave more of a burden on your family and friends than you need to.

Did you know that there are many benefits to getting cremated rather than buried? Consider the following reasons before you make your decision:

1. It's typically less expensive - Many families are choosing to go the cremation route over burial due its lower price point. Deaths are already hard enough on families, so why make it even harder than it has to be? While death is both natural and inevitable, it doesn't have to be the cause of debt for the people you leave behind.

If money is an issue, your family can take less of a hit if you choose to be cremated. It is cheaper because there is no need for a funeral, gravestone, plaque, coffin, or burial plot. Funeral and burial costs can quickly leave your family in massive debt. If you choose cremation instead, there will be no need for a funeral or burial plot. You do still have the option to have the urn buried at a cemetery, but it's not mandatory.

2. It gives you more leeway - You can still have a funeral or similar service when you are cremated, and you get to do it on your own terms. Since you don't have to worry about decomposing with cremation, you can take more time before having the service, which allows for family and friends to come from far distances.

3. Your family gets your ashes - If you choose to be buried at a cemetery, that will be where people go to visit you. Ashes can be scattered in special locations, which can then become visiting locations for your family and friends. This will allow them to speak to you with more privacy than they would have if you were buried at a cemetery. Your ashes can even be put in special pieces of jewelry and then distributed out to all of your family and friends.
